If you own an RV or recreational vehicle, chances are you’ve considered some type of storage for your vehicle at one point or another.  If this is the case, you are probably thinking about a wide range of issues that may affect the type of storage you choose.  Finding the right RV storage will require some research on your part, because quite frankly – all RV storage centers will not be the same.  So the more you know about RV storage, the more peace of mind you will have when it comes to the storage facility you’ve chosen for all of your specific storage needs.  Here are a few things you’ll want to consider, as well as some questions you may ask yourself and the RV storage facility.

• What types of RVs are accepted at this particular location?

It’s important to realize that many RV storage facilities will not allow storage of an RV of a specific year.  This is an important question to ask for those making a decision about an RV facility, because you may have something that needs to be stored that may not fit within their criteria.

• What are the business hours?

Business hours are extremely important because you’ll want to know whether you can pick up or deliver an RV within a specific time frame.  Some RV storage facilities are open quite early and close relatively late.  But this isn’t always the case.  You will want to make sure that you check to find out what their business hours are, and make sure that they coincide with your specific needs.

• What type of security do they offer?

The security issue is extremely important on many different levels. You want to know whether they have cameras security, on-site security, or live in security.  You’ll find that many of the different locations that provide RV storage will have one or all of the above. Security provides many different benefits one of which is to discourage any type of theft or criminal activity.
However, depending on the size of the facility you may find that some have tight security while others are more relaxed.

• What are the sizes of the RV spaces?

RV spaces are generally important because many people may want to store and RV as well as some of their other outdoor toys such as ATVs, jet skis, or boats and trailers.  For some, these storage spaces will be used for all the items listed above as well as a variety of others.  So you will want to make sure that the specific RV storage facility you choose can accommodate these needs.

• Are the driveways and parking spaces adequate?

If you drive an RV that is rather large, you’ll want to make sure that the RV storage facility you choose can accommodate larger vehicles.  This includes having driveways that are spacious and will allow you to drive your RV through without having to negotiate other vehicles.  Parking is important as well, so you want to make sure that the parking spaces are adequate and can accommodate the particular size RV you’ll be storing.

• Is this location indoor or outdoor?

Indoor and outdoor locations are extremely important for many factors.  One of the major factors is a costly depreciation of your vehicle because it is stored outdoors.  Outdoor facilities may have cost benefits, but those benefits can turn into potential issues if your RV is not covered.  You must remember that your RV will have to endure the outdoor elements if parked outside and not covered.

• Do they provide additional storage?

Sometimes additional storage is required for smaller items, and this will be an added plus if you can choose an RV storage facility that provides these options for you as well.

• Can you tour the facility before making a decision?

If you have the ability to tour the facility before making a decision, this will also make life extremely easy because you’ll be able to make choices based on what you’ve seen, and what is available.  Finding the right RV storage will be very important for a recreational vehicle owner; however, it will be up to you as an owner to find an RV storage facility that works the best for your specific needs.
